We got lots of great entries to our recent New England Times Community Directory competition – so much so that we had to split the prize between two great local businesses.

The New England Times Community Directory – https://www.directory.netimes.com.au/ – is a new community service that allows any business or group to create a listing for free. It’s particularly useful for those who don’t have a website, allowing you to put a decent description of the services you offer, how to contact you, and displaying photos and videos. For clubs and organisations, it serves as a useful place you can put basic information like when your meetings are held so people can find you and get involved, without needing to be on Facebook.

You can make a very simple listing or a very detailed one, it’s entirely up to you. And, as the directory covers the whole region, it’s great for those businesses or organisations that service more than their local town, or with a number of different offices.

The two winners of our competition are Alinta Candles and Home Decor, and Optimus Hot Water and Heating.

Alinta Candles and Home Decor is an exquisite shop of Australian inspired handmade candles. Proudly First Nations owned, the candles are made from coconut and bamboo with a variety of scents and amazing moulded shapes. You can also get beeswax and diffusers, and most products are available in their online store as well as their physical store at 94 Bridge Street, Uralla.

Optimus Hot Water and Heating are specialists in hydronic heating and cooling, and in electric heating, including solar. Able to do both domestic and commercial systems, they only use the highest quality products designed to stand the test of time. They service the entire New England region from their base in Armidale.

Both Alinta and Optimus have won $2500 worth of advertising with the New England Times.

An honourable mention also goes to the Knitters Guild NSW Armidale, who had the best social media posts to share their directory listing!
