For lovers of antiques, vintage furniture and one-of-a-kind discoveries, every visit to Four Rivers Finds Emporium comes with the promise of finding something unexpected.
That sense of discovery has helped the Tenterfield business take out the Best Second Hand Store title in this year’s Best in the New England.
Located on Rouse Street, the sprawling emporium attracted overwhelming support from shoppers who praised its ever-changing range, affordable prices and the welcoming service provided by owner Jody.
Many voters said the biggest attraction was never knowing what they might uncover.
Anne said customers travelled from far and wide to browse the store’s collection of unique items, adding that “you never know what mysterious item you will find.”
Kim agreed, saying a new truckload of stock arrived every week or two, meaning the shelves were constantly changing.
“Things are always turning over at a great price,” she said. “Jody is also very helpful and obliging.”
The sheer scale and variety of the store also impressed voters.
Amanda said it offered a selection of wares to satisfy even the keenest shopper, while Sue praised the “amazing variety of beautiful furniture, glass and lots of interesting things.”
The votes didn’t just come from Tenterfield either. Alisa from Armidale described Four Rivers Finds as “an extraordinary, huge shop full of real treasures”, saying she regularly sourced rolls of vintage fabric there for her hat-making business and was always excited to discover what had arrived since her last visit.
For others, it was the combination of quality and value that made the business stand out.
Colin described the store as offering a “sensational array of merchandise”, with treasures from years gone by all competitively priced.
Nanette said the range was comparable to what shoppers would expect to find in major cities, but with “fabulous prices” and wonderful service.
Helen also praised the store’s variety and affordability, adding that “happy owner equals happy customer.”
From vintage furniture and homewares to collectibles, fabrics and unexpected curiosities, Four Rivers Finds Emporium has become a destination for bargain hunters, collectors and browsers alike.
With customers travelling from across the region to see what’s arrived on the latest truck, the Tenterfield business has earned its place as the New England’s Best Second Hand Store.
