Tenterfield Home Hardware has been named the New England’s Best Hardware store in the 2026 Best in the New England awards, with customers crediting its knowledgeable staff, outstanding customer service and extensive product range for the win.
The family-focused business earned strong support from across the community, with voters repeatedly highlighting the team’s willingness to go the extra mile to help customers, whether they were tackling a major renovation or simply looking for the right tool or garden product.
Colin said the combination of “friendly service” and an “excellent range of products” made Tenterfield Home Hardware his clear choice, while Peter praised the team’s knowledge and consistently great service.
Helen said the business stood out because of its “superior service,” describing the store as a happy, welcoming place where staff were always eager to help.
“Everyone is always happy to serve, and they’re full of knowledge,” she said.
Several voters said it was the personal service that kept them returning.
Kris said staff always greeted customers with a smile and took the time to help.
“They have a great range of products at the right prices, and if they don’t have something in stock they’ll do their best to get it in,” Kris said.
“They care about their customers and have a fantastic work ethic.”
The store’s extensive range also received widespread praise, particularly its garden centre and nursery.
Dianne said the business combined friendly, efficient service with excellent stock levels and “a great nursery and garden supplies,” while Jenny also highlighted the store’s “fantastic nursery” alongside its wide product range and helpful staff.
Kim said the team’s consistency was what set them apart from competitors.
“The staff are friendly, genuine and caring. Nothing is ever too much trouble,” Kim said.
“They offer good pricing and great advice, and really know their products.”
Across the voting, the same themes emerged again and again: knowledgeable staff, genuine customer care, competitive prices and a commitment to finding solutions for customers.
