The Bungalow and Ivy Leaf Chapel has secured its third consecutive Best Accommodation title in the Best in the New England, becoming the second business this week to complete a coveted threepeat.
In a region renowned for its country hotels, motels, farm stays and boutique accommodation, the Tenterfield property again stood out thanks to an overwhelming show of support from guests who said it offers far more than just a place to sleep.
At the heart of many nominations was owner and host Kim, whose personalised hospitality has earned her an exceptionally loyal following, with many guests describing the property as their home away from home.
“Kim is the best host,” wrote Dianne, while Peter simply described it as offering “the best host, the best accommodation and the best location.”
Others praised the way Kim anticipates every need. Alex said she “went above and beyond” while hosting their wedding, helping with everything from preparing the room to collecting ice for guests, making the day “so memorable and beautiful.”
For many visitors, the gardens are every bit as memorable as the accommodation itself. Spread across beautifully maintained grounds surrounding the historic chapel and bungalow, the seasonal gardens featured prominently in nominations.
“The gardens are breathtaking,” Natalie wrote, while Craig described them as “amazing”. Alicia said the property offered “the warm hospitality, the slow feels of another time,” adding that guests arrive and “very shortly thereafter wish you never had to leave.”
Guests also highlighted the thoughtful touches that elevate each stay, from homemade granola and freshly baked scones to generous breakfast provisions, cosy fireplaces and local produce.
Chris said staying at the property felt “like our second home”, praising the luxurious accommodation, welcoming atmosphere and Kim’s attention to detail.
Grant said after discovering The Bungalow and Ivy Leaf Chapel, his family no longer considered staying anywhere else in Tenterfield.
“We love strolling around the garden. Sitting by the fire on a cold winter’s night is so cosy. The garden changes with each season, so it’s always a pleasant surprise when we visit,” he wrote.
Gabby said the business offered “so much more than accommodation”, describing the combination of exceptional hospitality, magnificent gardens and beautifully appointed rooms as creating “lasting memories”.
Voters repeatedly described the accommodation as peaceful, luxurious and immaculately maintained, while noting its appeal for everything from romantic weekends and destination weddings to extended country escapes.
