Liverpool Range RFS volunteers honoured for more than 1,000 years of combined service

More than 40 NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) volunteers from the Liverpool Range District will be recognised for their dedication to protecting their communities at a medal presentation ceremony in Gunnedah this week.

Assistant Commissioner Heath Stimson will join special guests at the Gunnedah Band Hall to present 41 Long Service Medals and Clasps, recognising a combined total of more than 1,050 years of service.

Assistant Commissioner Stimson said the ceremony highlights the depth of experience across the service.

“These medals represent decades of commitment to community safety,” Stimson said.

Several recipients will be recognised for significant milestones, including 30, 40 and more than 45 years of service, as well as one member honoured for an extraordinary 70 years.

Stimson said such milestones reflect the enduring strength of volunteerism within the RFS.

“Graham Donaldson of the Willala Brigade has demonstrated unwavering dedication across seven decades, continually maintaining his skills and supporting his community through generations of change,” he said.

“His lifetime of service represents the very best of the RFS and leaves a lasting legacy for future volunteers.”

Stimson congratulated all recipients and acknowledged the support networks behind them.

“Our volunteers give their time freely, often balancing family, work and community commitments,” he said.

“I also want to acknowledge the families, employers and friends who support our members. Their backing makes this service possible.”
