Motorists using the New England Highway at Link Road, Armidale, should allow up to five minutes of extra travel time, with road widening work bringing a 40 km/h limit and one-way traffic from Monday, 2 November.

Daracon will carry out the work from Monday, 2 November to Thursday, 24 December, before returning in the new year from Monday, 4 January 2027 until Saturday, 30 January 2027.
Crews will be on site between 6am and 6pm on weekdays and from 8am to 1pm on Saturdays, weather permitting.
During work hours, traffic control, a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h, and alternating traffic will be in place, allowing motorists to pass in one direction at a time.
Over the Christmas break, from 6pm on Thursday, 24 December to 6am on Monday, 4 January, lane closures and a reduced speed limit of 60 km/h will be in place.
Access from the New England Highway to Link Road will be closed until the end of January, with a detour via Holmfield Drive.
During some stages of the work, the right-hand turn from Stony Ridge Road onto the highway will also be restricted. Drivers will be detoured south via the roundabout at Glen Innes Road and the New England Highway.
Oversize and overmass (OSOM) operators with loads wider than 3.5 metres are advised to use UHF 25 for access through the work site.
OSOM drivers will need to follow signage and use pullover bays on the northern approach between Holmfield Drive and Link Road, and on the southern approach between Puddledock and Hoys Road.
Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.
Transport for NSW has thanked motorists for their patience.
