Community organisations and eligible individuals with projects that will deliver lasting benefits across Moree Plains Shire are encouraged to apply for funding through the 2026 Community Enhancement Fund.
Applications close at 11:59 pm on Sunday, 2 August.
The Community Enhancement Fund is made possible through an annual donation from Moree Solar Farm and provides financial assistance for projects that enhance community facilities, services and liveability across the shire.
The fund has already delivered tangible benefits to the community. During the 2025–26 financial year, the Moree and District Historical Society received $6,044.24 to replace fluorescent lighting with energy-efficient LED lighting.
The upgraded lighting helps preserve and showcase the history of Moree Plains while improving the experience for residents and visitors.
“We are thankful to receive support through the Community Enhancement Fund. The new lighting has made a wonderful difference to the Society, helping us create a warmer and more welcoming space for everyone who visits. It allows us to better showcase the stories and history of our region,” said Michael McNamara, Moree and District Historical Society.
Mayor Susannah Pearse said the Community Enhancement Fund continued to deliver practical benefits for local organisations and the broader community.
“Over the years, we’ve seen the positive impact these projects have had across our region. I strongly encourage eligible organisations and individuals who are passionate about making a difference in their community to apply for funding,” Pearse said.
Manager Economic Development Brian Kindilien said the fund supported local initiatives that would deliver lasting benefits.
“The Community Enhancement Fund is about backing local ideas that strengthen our communities and leave a lasting impact,” Kindilien said.
“Whether it’s preserving the history, improving community facilities or creating new opportunities for residents, this funding helps turn great ideas into reality. We encourage eligible applicants to apply and make the most of this opportunity and submit projects that will benefit Moree Plains Shire for years to come.”
Applications for funding of up to $25,000 are now open.
Individuals and groups must submit a Community Enhancement Fund application form by 11:59 pm on Sunday, 2 August. In accordance with the Community Enhancement Fund Policy, late applications will not be considered.
