Inverell boy, 12, charged over alleged break and enter

A 12-year-old Inverell boy has been charged after an alleged break and enter at a home in the town on Saturday.

Police allege a vehicle and cash were stolen from a unit on Andrew Street after officers were called to the property about 2:45 pm.

Following inquiries, police located the allegedly stolen vehicle on Rosie Lane about 4:50 pm and seized it for forensic examination.

A short time later, officers arrested the boy on Cunningham Place and took him to Inverell Police Station.

He was charged with aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company steal and take and drive conveyance without consent of owner.

The boy was granted strict conditional bail to appear before a children’s court on Thursday, 16 July 2026.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.
