Residents across Inverell Shire are being invited to have their say on how local services are delivered, funded and priced, with council placing its key draft planning documents on public exhibition.
The draft 2026–27 Operational Plan and Budget, Fees and Charges, and 2026–36 Long-Term Financial Plan outline what the community can expect in services, projects and costs over the next year and beyond.
The operational plan details the works, programs and day-to-day services residents rely on — from infrastructure and maintenance to community services — and how these will be funded and delivered.
Proposed fees and charges set out what households and businesses will pay for council services in the coming financial year, directly affecting cost-of-living and operating expenses across the shire.
The long-term financial plan maps council’s financial direction over the next decade, shaping decisions about future investment, service levels and financial sustainability.
“We invite residents and stakeholders to examine these documents and share their views. Your feedback plays a crucial role in guiding the future of our Shire and ensuring Council’s plans align with community priorities.” said Mayor Kate Dight.
The documents are available for review at the council administration building, 144 Otho Street, and online at inverell.nsw.gov.au, in line with section 405 of the Local Government Act 1993.
Community members can make written submissions to the general manager by post to PO Box 138, Inverell NSW 2360, or by email to council@inverell.nsw.gov.au.
Submissions close at 4.30pm on Friday, 22 May.
Council said community feedback would help shape final decisions on services, projects and pricing that affect residents across the shire.
