Police have released CCTV images as they investigate a string of break-ins, vehicle thefts and an alleged kidnapping across Tamworth earlier this week.
Officers from Oxley Police District began investigating after reports a BMW sedan was stolen from a home on Kalinda Place, Hillvue, between midnight and 2.10am on Monday, 7 September.
Police attended the property and found the home had been ransacked.
About 2.20am, the stolen BMW was driven to a petrol station on Jewry Street, Taminda, where an occupant allegedly filled the vehicle with fuel before leaving without paying.
Police were called about 3.40am following reports the same vehicle had arrived at a motel on Gunnedah Road, Westdale.
A group allegedly got out of the vehicle and kicked open the door of a motel room before demanding keys and cash from a man in his 30s.
The group allegedly stole keys to a Mazda station wagon, a mobile phone and a backpack containing a wallet, laptop and other personal items.
Police allege the group then kicked open the door of a second motel room and demanded keys and cash from a man in his 50s.
Keys to a Toyota SUV and a wallet were allegedly stolen before the group left in the Mazda and Toyota.
No injuries were reported.
About 4.35am, the same group allegedly approached a man in his 50s who was sitting in a vehicle in a car park on Armidale Road, East Tamworth.
Police said one member of the group was armed with a machete.
The man was allegedly ordered into the back seat of another vehicle, believed to have been stolen, and driven to a bank on Peel Street.
Police were told the group demanded the man withdraw money.
Officers responded but were unable to locate the group.
The man was later found uninjured.
Police have now released CCTV images as investigations continue and are seeking two men they believe may be able to assist with inquiries.
The men are described as being of medium build and were wearing black hooded jerseys, black pants and shorts, and black and red face coverings.
They were last seen on Armidale Road, East Tamworth, about 4.40am on Monday.
