Youth Week partnerships to help young people ‘Dream. Dare. Do.’

Quit B Fit Youth Week.

Young people across Moree Plains Shire will take centre stage during Youth Week 2026, with a series of activities designed to help them build skills, confidence and connection.

Delivered by Moree Plains Shire Council in partnership with Joblink Plus and Byamee Support Services, the three-day program, from April 20–24, focuses on empowering people aged 12 to 24 under the NSW Youth Week theme “Dream. Dare. Do.”

Participants from Moree, Mungindi and Boggabilla will have the opportunity to take part in hands-on workshops tailored to their needs, including Job Ready Skills, Get the Dirt on Self Care, Quit B Fit (addressing nicotine use and vaping), and My Home My Care (property and home management).

The program places a strong emphasis on supporting young people aged 16 to 21 as they prepare for greater independence, building confidence to apply for jobs, connect with services and make informed decisions about their health, including understanding the impacts of vaping (e-cigarettes).

As part of the initiative, participants can also access a free digital birth certificate through the Pathfinders National Birth Certificate Program, removing a common barrier to employment, education and housing.

Community Culture and Libraries Manager Jacqui Moore said the week is about giving young people practical opportunities to grow and succeed.

“These are great opportunities for our youth,” Moore said.

“Sessions will be held at Moree Community Library, Boggabilla TAFE and Mungindi Local Aboriginal Land Council, making them accessible across the region.

“We also provide morning tea and lunch, so it’s a welcoming and supportive environment for everyone to take part.”

The initiative is supported by the Alcohol and Drug Foundation through the Local Drug Action Team Program, alongside Joblink Plus and Byamee Support Services.

Youth Week 2026 aims to give local young people not just a chance to connect, but the tools and support they need to shape their future.
