Motorists, pedestrians and cyclists are being advised of changed traffic conditions at the George Fielder Bridge in Tamworth as essential maintenance gets underway.
Work on the Scott Road bridge over the Peel River will begin on Monday, September 7 and is expected to take about four months, weather permitting.
The project will include vegetation clearing and scour protection.
Work will be carried out from 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday and from 8am to 1pm on Saturdays. No work will take place on Sundays or public holidays.
Temporary stop-slow traffic arrangements will be in place on the bridge while materials are delivered to the work site.
The pedestrian walkway beneath the bridge will be closed for the duration of the project. Pedestrians and cyclists will need to follow directions from traffic controllers and detour signs.
The pedestrian walkway across the bridge will remain open throughout the works.
