A new era of business leadership is being ushered in today, May 8, with the launch of Next Gen, a forward-thinking initiative aimed at empowering the region’s emerging business leaders with real opportunities for influence, growth, and collaboration.
Next Gen, developed by the Gunnedah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is a program for young professionals aged 16 to 35 working or training across trades, small business. Creative industries and management.
Chamber President CJ Baldry Adams told the Gunnedah Times that young people don’t need to wait to be given a title to be a leader.
“[Leadership] starts when someone gives you a chance, Next Gen is that chance. It’s our invitation to the next generation of business leaders to stand up, be seen and shape what happens next.”
The launch event, which will be held at Gunnedah Rugby Club and starts at 5.30pm, is open to the public and is expected to attract a mix of young professionals, entrepreneurs, business leaders, educators and employers from across the New England, making it the perfect place for networking and collaboration.
Program highlights include a keynote address from Baldry Adams outlining the Gunnedah Beyond 2050 Strategy and the vision behind the Next Gen Campaign, followed by a guest panel discussion on doing business in rural NSW.
Panel speakers include Michael Broekman of Namoi Valley Bricks, David Errington of Apollo Engineering, and Susie Slack-Smith from Collective Media. Topics will cover regional entrepreneurship, collaboration, and growth.
Members of Next Gen can participate in chamber-led projects, create their own events and workshops, and help shape the future of business in Gunnedah and beyond.
Next Gen is free to join until June 30, with sign-ups, leadership nominations, and mentor opportunities available on the night.
The chamber encourages local employers, mentors, and community members to attend in support of the region’s next generation of changemakers.
