New England has another opportunity to be at the forefront of the renewable energy transition, with a special livestream hub in Armidale for the 2024 Community Energy Congress tomorrow.
The Community Energy Congress will bring together leaders from communities, government, infrastructure providers and business to focus on how community participation can speed the renewable energy transition. The theme for this year’s Congress is ‘Fast, Fair, and Vital’. The Congress is of interest to anyone working to unlock a community-driven renewable-powered future, and discussions will include how over 100 communities around Australia are reaping rewards from the energy transition.
Locals are invited to attend a livestream of Sydney’s 2024 Community Energy Congress at the NOVA in Armidale this Wednesday March 6, from 9.30am to 5.30pm. The Armidale Hub will livestream sessions and offer facilitator led interactive activities. The event is being hosted by the UNE SMART Region Incubator, Community Power Agency (CPA) and Electrify Armidale, and supported by Sustainable Living Armidale (REEACH) and Z-NET Uralla.
CPA’s New England Regional Coordinator Heidi McElnea said that the community had a strong history of people working together for sustainability and energy projects.
“New England and the North West is going to play a big role in helping to power our region into the future,” Ms McElnea said.
“And whether someone is on the farm, at home, at work, or out in the community, they each have a role to play.
She said she was happy to see new groups like ‘Electrify Armidale’ being formed.
“Community Power Agency is happy to support these groups working towards real solutions,” Ms McElnea said.
Ms McElnea said that the local Armidale livestream event will provide opportunities to network with other likeminded people in the area.
All sessions of the first day of the Sydney Conference will be livestreamed at the Nova, Armidale on Wednesday March 6.
