More than 200 golfers and a line-up of former NRL stars will hit Narrabri Golf Club this Saturday, as the WTC Charity Golf Day returns to raise money for local mental health services.
The 2026 event will be held on Saturday, 7 November, after a year’s break.
It has drawn an overwhelming response, with 51 teams and 204 golfers registered for the four-person Ambrose competition.
The 2023 and 2024 Charity Golf Days together raised $141,000 to support local mental health services, helping people get the care they need in their own community.
“We’re really excited to bring the Charity Golf Day back this Saturday,” said WTC Managing Director Will Childs.
“The response has been incredible. To have 51 teams registered and so many businesses, sponsors and supporters getting behind the event is a fantastic reflection of the generosity of our community.
“The first two events raised $141,000, and we’re hoping to build on that this year while bringing everyone together for a great day on and off the golf course.”
Former NRL stars Boyd Cordner, Cooper Johns, and Jared Waerea-Hargreaves will join the field, alongside professional MMA and bare-knuckle fighter Josh Kuhne and former amateur boxing champion Jimmy Judge.
“We want people to know that you don’t have to be playing golf to be part of the day,” Mr Childs said.
“Come down, buy a raffle ticket, enjoy the atmosphere or join us for the auction. There are plenty of ways to get involved, and every contribution helps.”
The clubhouse will be open to the community from 10am, with live music, raffle tickets, and plenty of ways to support the fundraising effort.
Children’s face painting starts at 4pm, and the Pickles Charity Auction will get under way at about 5pm, after the golf presentation, with a collection of donated prizes.
A nearest-to-the-pin competition will follow the auction, with a cash prize up for grabs.
“The cause is something WTC is very passionate about,” Mr Childs said.
“We believe people in our community should be able to access mental health support when they need it, without the added burden of travelling away or worrying about the cost.
“That’s what this event is all about, bringing our community together and making a real difference locally.”
