A community fundraiser at Gunnedah’s AgQuip Field Days has raised $2,793 to support vulnerable families experiencing hardship, homelessness and domestic violence.
The NSW Nationals barbecue fundraiser was supported by Teys Australia, which donated steaks for the event, with proceeds going to Gunnedah Family Support Inc.
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said the fundraiser highlighted the importance of local businesses supporting community organisations.
“When our local community back each other, good things happen and the NSW Nationals AgQuip BBQ raised $2793,” Anderson said.
“Richard Ingram and his team at TEYS Australia always make sure they play a big part in the local community by sponsoring local sporting clubs or donating their meat to support fundraisers held by a range of community groups.
“That includes donating the steaks for the AgQuip barbecue that raised funds for Gunnedah Family Support Inc. who provide homelessness, domestic violence and early intervention social support in Gunnedah.”
Gunnedah Family Support provides assistance to vulnerable individuals and families, including homelessness services, domestic violence support and early intervention programs.
Gunnedah Family Support manager Vanessa Hodges-Schembri said the donation would help families facing financial and personal challenges.
“Gunnedah Family Support were delighted to be asked back to the Nationals stall at Ag Quip this year,” said Hodges Schembri.
“This donation will be used to help families that are doing it tough in our community. Every little bit helps as families are really struggling.”
Anderson acknowledged Teys Australia’s ongoing contribution to local fundraising initiatives and community organisations.
“I’m always looking at ways to support the community, and playing a small part in the NSW Nationals AgQuip fundraiser is an excellent way to raise awareness and funds for Gunnedah Family Support,” Anderson added.
“Thank you to TEYS for their ongoing support of our fundraiser, their support to Gunnedah Family Support, and their ongoing support of our community.”
