Young people across Gunnedah can apply for financial help with university, TAFE or other accredited training through the 2027 Gunnedah Community Scholarship Fund.
The community-funded program is open to eligible local students aged under 25 and is designed to help with the costs of continuing their education or training.
Scholarship Fund Working Group chair Linda Newell said rising living costs were adding to the financial pressures facing students.
“Everyone is feeling the pinch of the rising costs of living, and it’s even more difficult when you’re trying to focus on your studies,” she said.
“We want to help take some of that pressure off by providing funds that can go towards essentials like relocation and other travel costs, textbooks, living expenses, and tuition fees.
“Our community wants to give our young people the best start in their studies, so I encourage them to apply for the 2027 round.”
Applications are open to students pursuing further education or training through a university, TAFE or accredited training organisation.
Applications close at 5pm on Friday, 8 January 2027.
Eligibility guidelines and applications are available through Gunnedah Shire Council.
