New England North West leaders to gather for major housing forum

Housing will take centre stage at one of the New England North West’s biggest policy and industry discussions this year, with government, business, community and industry leaders to gather in Tamworth for the Future Build Forum 2026.

Hosted by Business NSW New England North West, the forum comes as the region responds to population growth, workforce demand, infrastructure investment and the need for more diverse housing options.

The event will examine the future of housing across the New England North West, focusing on the policies, investment priorities and delivery pathways needed to support regional communities and future growth.

Business NSW New England North West Regional Director Stephanie Cameron said the forum would help drive the regional housing conversation and identify practical actions to support long-term prosperity.

“The New England North West has incredible momentum, but housing is increasingly shaping our ability to attract workers, grow businesses, support investment and strengthen our communities,” Cameron said.

“The conversation has moved beyond whether more housing is needed. The focus now is how we create the conditions that enable more homes to be delivered across our region and ensure growth can continue into the future.”

Event partner PRD Tamworth & Liverpool Plains is supporting the forum. Licensee in Charge Mark Sleiman said community initiatives played an important role in strengthening local property markets and improving lifestyle appeal.

“Events like this help showcase the vibrancy, connectivity and growth potential of our region – factors that continue to drive buyer interest and investment across both residential and rural sectors. As our footprint expands, we’re also excited to announce the launch of PRD Gunnedah from July 1, further enhancing our ability to deliver local expertise and exceptional service across the North West. Supporting thriving communities remains central to everything we do in real estate,” Sleiman said.

A keynote address and fireside discussion with NSW Minister for Housing the Hon. Rose Jackson MLC will provide attendees with insight into the NSW Government’s priorities for housing supply and delivery across regional NSW.

The program will also feature speakers from the Housing Industry Association (HIA), Homes North, PRD Tamworth & Liverpool Plains, Armidale Regional Council, Tamworth Regional Council and Uralla Shire Council, along with industry leaders from the housing, construction, finance and development sectors.

Discussion topics will include housing supply, workforce and community housing, infrastructure readiness, regional competitiveness, investment, construction capacity and the role of housing in supporting economic resilience.

A cross-sector panel will examine how industry, government and communities can work together to accelerate housing delivery, improve housing choice and support the long-term success of regional centres.
