Residents across the Tamworth region are being encouraged to have their say as the Hunter New England and Central Coast Primary Health Network (HNECC PHN) begins a Community Deep Dive across the Tamworth Local Government Area.
The Community Deep Dive is a place-based consultation process aimed at gaining a better understanding of local health needs, service gaps and community strengths.
Findings from the Deep Dive will inform the PHN’s annual Needs Assessment, which is submitted to the Australian Government Department of Health, Disability and Ageing each November to support future planning and commissioning decisions.
The consultation will run over several months and include a range of engagement activities, including discussions with local organisations and community leaders, small-group sessions, and a community forum on June 3 from 9am to 1pm at the Tamworth Community Centre.
While population and service data provide important insights, they do not always present a complete picture of community wellbeing.
The Deep Dive offers an opportunity for people who live and work in the region to share their views on what is working well, where service gaps exist and what changes could improve local health and wellbeing outcomes.
Community members, health and social service providers, community organisations, local leaders and people with lived experience are encouraged to participate.
HNECC PHN is a not-for-profit organisation funded by the Australian Government to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the primary healthcare system. The organisation draws on community feedback, expert advice, research and health data to better understand local needs and support targeted health planning and service delivery.
