More than 30 NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) volunteers from across the Liverpool Range District were recognised for their dedication to local communities at a medal presentation ceremony in Quirindi this week.
Assistant Commissioner Jayson McKellar AFSM joined guests at the Quirindi Fire Control Centre to present 32 Long Service Medals and Clasps, recognising a combined total of almost 1,000 years of service.
Assistant Commissioner McKellar said the ceremony highlighted the significant contribution volunteers continued to make across the Liverpool Range District.
“These medals recognise decades of commitment to protecting local communities and supporting the RFS,” Assistant Commissioner McKellar said.
“Several members will be recognised for significant milestones, including Neville Davies from the Werris Creek Brigade, who will be honoured for an extraordinary 60 years of service.
“Also being recognised for more than 50 years of service are Neville McVicar and Bernard Morrissey from the Blackville Brigade, and Lindsay Pollock from the Borah Creek Brigade.”
Assistant Commissioner McKellar said the milestones reflected the enduring spirit of volunteerism in regional communities.
“Volunteers across the Liverpool Range District continue to show an incredible commitment to their communities, often balancing family, work and farming responsibilities alongside emergency service.”
Assistant Commissioner McKellar congratulated all recipients and thanked the families, friends, employers and local communities that continued to support RFS volunteers.
“These awards recognise not only operational service, but also the countless hours spent training, preparing and supporting brigades behind the scenes,” he said.
