Moree will take centre stage next month, with a $5000 grant from Moree Plains Shire Council helping deliver the popular “Moree on a Plate Food and Wine Festival” at Moree Racecourse.
Moree Plains Shire Mayor Susannah Pearse said the event would once again showcase the region as the annual Festival of Flavour on Saturday, 9 May.
“Moree on a Plate is renowned as an event which always delights families and this year will be no different.” she said.
“The Mother’s Day event is sure to attract plenty of foodies coming to see celebrity chef Warren Mendes and Kids Korner favourite Jule Jarner.”
The festival highlights Moree’s local produce, businesses and community, drawing visitors to the region while supporting the local economy.
Chef Mendes, a classically trained chef and contributing food editor at delicious., trained at Le Cordon Bleu in Sydney, Paris and London.
Mayor Pearse said the event remained a key date for Moree and the wider shire.
“The $5000 contribution of support is to help ensure this quality event continues to deliver year after year since its inception in 2003, and shows council continues its support for local events and businesses.
“Of course, there will be a smorgasbord of fresh produce and delicious meals from growers near and far.”
Organisers have been promoting Moree on a Plate across the shire and beyond, with the event growing into a tourism drawcard that brings visitors to Moree.
Kids Korner will again highlight local involvement, with Moree schools and community groups using the festival as a fundraising opportunity.
From cake decorating to sensory tables, Kids Korner organisers Meg Moses, Cara Moore, Urshula Bailey and Camilla Cutcliffe have been cooking up a storm.
“We’re excited for what will be another great festival celebrating and showcasing all the positives our community has to offer.” said Mayor Pearse.
The festival starts at 10am on 9 May 2026 at Moree Racecourse.
