Tenterfield Shire Council has accepted the resignation of General Manager Hein Basson, effective 5 June 2026, following its meeting on 22 April.
Mayor Bronwyn Petrie thanked Basson for his service to the Tenterfield community.
“On behalf of councillors and residents, I thank Mr Basson for his leadership and achievements over the past two years,” Petrie said.
During his tenure, Basson oversaw the management of disaster recovery grants and finalised key local licensing arrangements, including with the Tenterfield Chamber of Tourism, Industry and Business to operate the Tourist Information Centre at the Sir Henry Parkes Memorial School of Arts foyer, and with the School of Arts Incorporated for the Museum, Theatre and Cinema.
To maintain continuity, Council has appointed Director of Infrastructure Services Matthew Francisco as Acting General Manager while Basson is on leave through to his departure.
Petrie said the appointment would provide stability during the transition.
“Mr Francisco brings extensive experience across local and state government, and a strong understanding of Tenterfield’s infrastructure priorities and community assets,” she said. “This ensures our major projects and services continue without disruption.”
Council said it would provide further updates on the recruitment of a permanent General Manager in due course.
