Quirindi gears up for community Heritage Festival

Quirindi’s community spirit will be on full display when the annual Heritage Festival returns to the Rural Heritage Village on May 2–3, bringing locals and visitors together for a weekend celebrating the district’s history and rural culture.

A highlight of the festival is Friday’s tractor trek through the Quirindi district, followed by a packed Saturday program including a street parade of old tractors and vintage and veteran cars through town.

Across the weekend, the Heritage Village will come alive with family-friendly attractions. Miniature trains will run both days, while visitors can explore arts and crafts stalls, sheep shearing demonstrations, tractor pull and balancing competitions, and Trainworld’s impressive gauge 1 collection alongside an HO train display.

The popular swap meet is already drawing strong interest, with more than 60 sites booked offering everything from car parts and tools to antiques and bric-a-brac—adding to the event’s drawcard for collectors and hobbyists.

Food and refreshments will be well covered by local groups, with the Village coffee shop, a Lions Club barbecue, and a damper and pancake stall all contributing to the community atmosphere.

The festival is the Heritage Village’s major annual fundraiser, helping maintain its facilities and cover ongoing costs such as rates, insurance and electricity, ensuring the site remains a hub for Quirindi’s history and community life.
