Armidale’s car loving community will be coming together for a good cause in Armidale later this month, as Armidale Car Meets hosts a major charity car meet raising funds for the Oncology Unit at Armidale Hospital.
The event will be held from 11am on Saturday, 26 September, at Tyrepower Armidale, 1 Drew St, with car enthusiasts, families and members of the wider New England community invited along to support the cause.
The charity meet will showcase a wide variety of cars, bikes and more from across the region, alongside entertainment for the whole family, including a sausage sizzle, prizes, games and other activities throughout the day.
100 per cent of proceeds from the event will be donated to Oncology Armidale, helping support the local oncology service and the patients and families who rely on it.
Armidale Car Meets organiser Malcolm Fereday said the event was about bringing everyone together while giving back to the community.
“We wanted to put together an event that brings everyone together, but also gives back to our community.”
“There are so many people in the Armidale and New England area who have been affected by cancer, and we wanted to do something meaningful to support the Oncology Unit at Armidale Hospital,” Mr Fereday said.
“We’re hoping to see a huge turnout of cars, bikes, families and supporters. Every dollar raised will go towards helping our local oncology service.”
Armidale Car Meets is a non-profit social group bringing together car and bike enthusiasts from across the region, run by an admin team of four who fund the group’s activities themselves.
The event is proudly sponsored by Tyrepower Armidale as major sponsor, alongside supporting local businesses Bidfood, Moxons Bakery, Toy World Armidale, Bing Lee Armidale and What’s Brew’N, who have all come on board to help make the day possible.
Organisers are encouraging other local businesses and community members to get behind the event as well, whether through donations, prizes, sponsorship, or simply by attending on the day to show their support.
