Police are appealing for information after a man and woman were allegedly assaulted and threatened during a home invasion in Moree.
Emergency services were called to a unit on Adelaide Street about 5:45 am on Tuesday, September 1, following reports of an attempted break-in.
Police were told a man in his 60s and a woman in her 70s woke to find two unknown people running from their front yard. The front door of the home had been damaged.
The residents were allegedly targeted again about 6.30am on Thursday, September 3.
Police were told they woke to find a male intruder, allegedly armed with a metal pole fitted with sharp objects, kicking in a door while a second intruder was nearby.
The armed man allegedly demanded money before striking the male resident on the arm with the weapon, causing a laceration.
He then allegedly placed the woman in a chokehold and threatened her.
Police allege the man stole cash and smashed a hole in a wall before the two intruders fled in an unknown direction.
Officers from New England Police District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area or has relevant CCTV, mobile phone or dashcam footage to come forward.
