Residents of RFBI Armidale Masonic Village have taken out multiple awards at this year’s Armidale Show, with their artwork on display alongside other local entries.
The works were created throughout the year as part of the village’s lifestyle program, culminating in a group visit to the show to view the exhibition.
Residents secured four first-place and four second-place ribbons across individual and group categories.
Among the winners, resident Roger received first place for his clay sculpture The Human Brain. He said the piece was inspired by the idea that everyone is different and looked forward to sharing it with his daughters and fellow residents.

Brian also took out first place for a self-portrait created during an art therapy session, where participants were encouraged to depict how they see themselves. His work focused on a sense of being ‘young at heart’.

A fully functioning Ferris wheel made from paddle-pop sticks, created by residents in the memory support unit with lifestyle staff, also won first place.
Resident Libby was recognised for her cross-stitch work, earning both first- and second-place ribbons.
Following the show, the artworks were displayed at the village for families and friends.
Lifestyle supervisor Talissa Bramble said the results were a source of pride.
“While the awards are a wonderful achievement, what matters most is the joy, confidence and sense of purpose our residents gain from creating something meaningful,” Bramble said.
She said the art program supports wellbeing, connection and self-expression.
“Programs like this aren’t just about the final piece; they foster creativity, social connection and give people the opportunity to tell their story in their own way.”
