This Sunday some of the New England’s best footy players will take to the Scully Park for the Tri Series tournament.

For the ladies, we will debut some talented young women under Coach, Luke Taylor.

The Group 4 women start their day with a 9.50am kickoff against Group 19 Women in which Coach Taylor believes his side will acquit itself well.

“We’ve got girls from all over Group 4, Moree, Narrabri, Wee Waa, Boggabri, Werris Creek, Quirindi, Dungowan, Kootingal and Tamworth,” Taylor said.

“They have all been going allright too.”

He said Nikky Berryman is one of the standouts.

“She’s played in the Country side for a couple of years,” he said of the Kootingal Roosterette.

“She will lead from the front.”

“We have some talented young girls too – Tarnee Ingram, Jayda Simpson, Lauren Daye and Mia Montgomery.”

The Group 4 side has its second and final game at 3.30pm against Group 21, who Taylor believes will be a very strong opponent.

GROUP 4 Ladies Team

Cassidy Morley, Tanika Darcy, Jayda Simpson, Nautica Eather, Taylor Holcombe, Mia Montgomery, Tarnee Ingram, Nikki Berryman, Katerina Hinton, Jessica Slade, Bella Cruickshank, Tara Newman, Amy Barraclough, Zoe Eather, Madisan Rogers, Jaida Stevens, Dayna Porter, Lauren Daye, Kate Brown, Jess Baker. Coach – Luke Taylor.

Meanwhile for Group 4’s under 18 men’s side, selectors have named a ‘very strong squad’ for Sunday’s inaugural Under 18 Tri Series at Tamworth’s Scully Park.

Group 4 will play Group 19 and 21 Under 18’s, with the Group 4 Under 18’s tackling Group 19’s Under 18’s in the opening game of the Tri Series, alongside the women’s tackle and men’s Tri Series competitions.

Lad Jones will take the wheel for the Under 18’s and is confident the G4 juniors will compete strongly against their Group 19 and 21 opponents.

“We have a very strong squad,” Coach Jones said.

“We’ve got some very good young players. Half of them play for the Farrer First 13 and a handful have played Greater Northern Tigers.”

Dustin Wyrzykowski will skipper the side with Lachlan Hawkins the vice-captain.

Lad Jones said most of the players know each other and most play together or against each other on a regular basis.

A lot of them are down here in Sydney playing for Farrer against The Hills in a trial,” Jones said.

He said the likes of Wyrzykowski, Harrison Thrift and Noah Hooley will be key men. Hooley has been scoring tries in first grade for Dungowan in recent weeks as well as playing Under 18’s.

He also the likes of Declan Rooney, Isaiah Cochrane and Jack Anderson will be players to watch in a side that is missing the unavailable Braydon Allan and Jordan Hamlin.

Younger squad members – Scott Kendall, Luke Lowick and Joe Rindo – are also young talents on the way up, Jones added.

Group 4’s Under 18’s tackle Group 19’s Under 18’s in the first game of Tri Series at 9am. Group 19’s Under 18’s and Group 21 U18’s then match up at 11.50am with the G4-G21 U18 match at 2.40pm.
