Community services are coming together and are ready to engage with Manilla residents this Tuesday, May 7, at the town’s first One Stop Shop event.

The event aims to bridge the gap between the community and the services not directly available in the small town, by bringing everyone to their doorstep.

For Manilla local and Aboriginal Education Officer at Manilla Central School, Kristy Cooke, Tuesday’s event is just what the town needs.

“I grew up here and I know the difficulties we face trying to get into Tamworth, let alone find out what services are available in Tamworth for supports,” said Kristy.

“So, if we can bring them out here and show them off to the community, let the community decide what services they feel they need, and let them link in with them and I can help my community better for the future.”

Tamworth Family Support Services is just one service that will be on hand at the event, eager to talk about their services available to everyone.

“We will certainly be there, and we work with a lot of different strengths, such as with the domestic violence court support area, we have workers working with families who need family support and we also have a homeless team, and we run the women’s and youth refuge.” said Danny Dalton, Community Development Worker Tamworth Family Support Services.

“The day is where community and services meet to chat, and that’s exactly what will happen on the day, and hopefully service delivery gaps start to get smaller.”

Ten services are registered for the day, kicking off from 3:30pm and running until 5:30pm at the Secondary Campus in Manilla, at Wilga Avenue.

“Come along and meet some great people,” said Kristy.

“There are some fantastic services coming that people won’t know, lots of giveaways and a BBQ ont he day,”

“Just a nice fun and relaxed afternoon to help people connect and join forces.”

There will be free entertainment, a gold donation for the BBQ and great company for all.
