Get ready to rally behind the Matildas as they face England in tonight’s semifinal of the Women’s World Cup.

After a thrilling penalty shootout victory over France on Saturday night, the Matildas have made history by advancing to the World Cup’s final four. Most pubs and clubs across the region are decking out the place in green and gold and putting the game on the big screens so everyone can get behind the Matildas as they go higher in a world cup than any Australian football team before them – male or female.

Tamworth Regional Council opens its doors to the Tamworth Regional Entertainment and Conference Centre (TRECC) to allow the community to come together and cheer on the Aussie girls as they compete in the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 Semi Final match against England on Wednesday evening.

Residents are invited to come along to this free family event with a giant screen set up for optimal viewing to cheer on the girls. Attendees can bring their own chairs or picnic blankets or utilise the limited rear tiered seating on a first-come, first-served basis.

“As the Matildas embark on this crucial stage of the tournament, we’re excited to bring the community together in support of our national team,” said Linda Bridges, Coordinator Visitor Economy.

“This is more than simply a game; it’s an opportunity for everyone to support our athletes and enjoy the excitement of the competition.”

The evening will be a non-alcohol event however attendees are welcome to bring along their own food and non-alcoholic beverages to enjoy during the match.

Doors will open from 6:30pm with the match kicking off from 8:00pm.

The Belgrave Cinema in Armidale will also have the game on the big screen for $10 a ticket.
