ABORIGINAL CULTURAL HERITAGE ASSESSMENT

MW & LM Single Builders Pty Ltd (The Proponent) is seeking approval for the development of a quarry on Lots 53, 54 & 55 DP1120933, Moore Creek Road, North Tamworth, NSW, 2340 (Project Site).

The project would facilitate the proposed residential subdivision of 250 lots, including a proposal to seek an additional permitted use (APU) for a service station on the corner lot of Moore Creek Road & Browns Lane. The proposed Project Area covers an area of approximately 48 ha, within the boundaries of the Tamworth Local Aboriginal Land Council (LALC) in the New England North West region of NSW. The Tamworth Regional Council have advised that the Proponent is required to prepare an Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Assessment (ACHA) for the Project.

The purpose of the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Assessment (ACHA) is to identify ways to avoid or minimise potential harm to Aboriginal objects. Consultation with the Aboriginal community is an important part of this process. In accordance with the requirements of the Aboriginal cultural heritage consultation requirements for proponents 2010 (NSW Department of Environment, Climate Change and Water, 2010) [Consultation Guidelines], Aboriginal persons or groups who may hold cultural knowledge relevant to determining the significance of Aboriginal objects and/or places in the Area of Interest are invited to register for the consultation process with the Proponent by 5pm on 30 November 2025 via the contact details:

The Proponent advises that the details of any Aboriginal person or group who registers an interest in the Project will be forwarded to Heritage NSW, and the Tamworth LALC in accordance with Section 4.1.5 of the Consultation Guidelines, unless they specify that they do not want their details released.
