Early voting begins on Tuesday April 22, and election day is on May 3. Here’s all the information you need about when and where to vote in Parkes.

Parkes Electorate Overview

Summary

The expanded Parkes electorate now covers approximately 406 755 square kilometres, around half the land size of the state. It is the largest electorate in NSW and the seventh largest in Australia. It includes key regional centres such as Dubbo, Moree, Broken Hill, Bourke, and Cobar. The seat is predominantly rural and agricultural, with a strong focus on farming, mining, and regional development. Parkes has traditionally been a safe Nationals seat, long held by Mark Coulton, who announced his retirement ahead of the 2025 election.

2022 Federal Election Result

In the 2022 federal election, Mark Coulton (Nationals) retained the seat of Parkes with a strong majority:

  • Mark Coulton (Nationals) – 60.7% (two-party preferred)
  • Labor – 39.3%

There was a minor swing away from the Nationals (-2.1%) but the seat remained firmly in coalition hands.

Maurice Davey (Family First Party)

My name is Maurice Davey and I am the Family First candidate for the Federal electorate of Parkes. I am 65, a fourth-generation farmer, married to Merren for 41 years, with 4 children and 9 grandchildren. I found it easy to align with Family First, as strong families are the backbone of a prosperous society. Most legislation, good or bad, affects families, so Family First is the ideal platform to negotiate a strong future for our nation. Lyle Shelton, lead Senate candidate for NSW and National Director, is a man of integrity who has long fought for good values and outcomes for families and society. I’m proud to work under his leadership. We’re committed to fighting for mums, dads, and especially our children, who are the hope of our nation. Key priorities include lowering power and fuel prices, protecting freedom of speech and religion—especially in education—and stopping radical gender ideology in schools and sport. I value community, Judeo-Christian ethics, and common sense. Please vote carefully. Vote 1 – Family First.
