Uralla Community Care launches with new name and electric fleet

Uralla’s community transport and in-home support services have a new name, a new brand, and two new electric vehicles, with Uralla Shire Council putting the focus on a service that is locally based and locally run.

Council officially launched Uralla Community Care on Thursday, 29 October, unveiling a new name, brand, and website for its community support services.

“Uralla Community Care reflects who we are and the services we provide for our community,” said Uralla Shire Mayor Robert Bell.

The service was previously known as Tablelands Community Support and Tablelands Community Transport. It has been rebranded to better reflect its local identity and the broad range of services it provides across the region.

Uralla Community Care provides community transport for people of all ages, along with practical in-home support that helps older residents stay independent, safe, and connected to their community.

“Whether it’s helping someone get to a medical appointment, access essential services or continue living independently at home, our team plays an important role in supporting the wellbeing of local residents,” Mayor Bell said.

It is the only locally operated community care and transport service based in the Uralla area.

“What makes this service unique is that it’s locally based and locally operated,” Mayor Bell said.

“Our staff understand the community, know the area and are committed to helping people stay connected and independent.”

The launch coincided with the arrival of two new battery electric vehicles. They will support Direct Support Worker and Community Transport operations across Uralla, Armidale, and surrounding communities.

The vehicles and charging infrastructure were funded through the NSW Government’s Electric Vehicle Fleets Incentive โ€“ Kick-start Funding Program.

“These vehicles will help deliver essential services to local residents while giving Council valuable experience with electric vehicle technology in a regional setting,” said Member for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan.

“It’s fantastic to see this investment supporting practical outcomes for the community through the newly launched Uralla Community Care service.”
