Uralla’s community care service gets a new name and two electric vehicles

Uralla Shire Council’s community transport and in-home support service has a new name, and two new electric vehicles to carry its staff and clients around Uralla, Armidale, and surrounding communities.

The service, previously known as Tablelands Community Support and Tablelands Community Transport, has been relaunched as Uralla Community Care, with a new brand and website.

The new name is meant to better reflect the service’s local identity and the wide range of support it offers across the region.

“Uralla Community Care reflects who we are and the services we provide for our community,” said Uralla Shire Mayor Robert Bell.

“Whether it’s helping someone get to a medical appointment, access essential services or continue living independently at home, our team plays an important role in supporting the wellbeing of local residents.”

Uralla Community Care offers community transport for people of all ages. It also provides practical in-home support to help older residents stay independent, safe, and connected to their community.

It is the only locally operated community care and transport service based in the Uralla area.

“What makes this service unique is that it’s locally based and locally operated,” he said.

“Our staff understand the community, know the area and are committed to helping people stay connected and independent.”

The two new battery electric vehicles will support the service’s direct support workers and community transport runs.

The vehicles and their charging infrastructure were funded through the NSW Government’s Electric Vehicle Fleets Incentive โ€“ Kick-start Funding Program.

“These vehicles will help deliver essential services to local residents while giving Council valuable experience with electric vehicle technology in a regional setting,” said Member for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan.

“It’s fantastic to see this investment supporting practical outcomes for the community through the newly launched Uralla Community Care service.”
