Community groups and councils in the Parkes electorate have until 5pm on Monday, 2 November to ask for up to $20,000 for small infrastructure projects.
Federal Member for Parkes Jamie Chaffey is reminding them that expressions of interest for Round 10 of the Australian Governmentโs Stronger Communities Programme close on that date. A total of $150,000 is available for each electorate.
“There is still time for community groups and councils to submit an expression of interest for the Stronger Communities Programme and make a real difference within their organisation,” said Federal Member for Parkes Jamie Chaffey.
“A grant of up to $20,000 could be ideal for a project such as hall improvements, purchasing equipment or improving accessibility,” Mr Chaffey said.
Eligible applicants include incorporated not-for-profit organisations, non-distributing cooperatives, companies limited by guarantee, Australian Indigenous corporations, eligible religious organisations, and local councils.
Funding may cover up to 100 per cent of eligible project costs for eligible not-for-profit groups. Councils that apply must contribute at least 50 per cent of eligible project costs.
“Community groups and local government make our communities wonderful places to live in,” Mr Chaffey said.
“This is one way they can receive some solid support to keep making a difference in their local communities.”
Last year, the Murrin Bridge Local Aboriginal Land Council won funding for its Indigenous rugby uniform project.
“Last year saw some great organisations receive funding, including Camp Cypress in Baradine, funding for Orana Support Service for the Dubbo Youth Accommodation Centre and money towards the Fun Family Fitness program in Broken Hill,” Mr Chaffey said.
After the expression-of-interest process, selected organisations will be nominated and invited to submit a formal application to the Federal Government. Expressions of interest must reach Mr Chaffeyโs office by 5pm on Monday, 2 November. Inquiries can be made on (02) 6882 0999.
