Motorists in the New England are being warned to expect changed traffic conditions on Saturday, 24 October, with road closures in place for the Sapphire City Festival fireworks in Inverell and the Thunderbolts Festival in Uralla.
In Inverell, the Gwydir Highway and Inverell Bridge will be closed to traffic and pedestrians between Campbell and Brae streets from 8.30pm to 9.30pm for the fireworks.
Light vehicles can detour via Bundarra Road, Medora Street, Cameron Street, Macintyre Street, and Old Bundarra Road to rejoin the Gwydir Highway.
Heavy, oversize, and over mass vehicles can detour via Runnymeade Drive, Swanbrook Road, Byron Street, Ring Street, and Jardine Road.
In Uralla, the New England Highway will be closed between John and King streets for the Fleet Warbirds Parade from 10.30am to 11.30am. Traffic will be detoured via John, Maitland, and King streets.
Restricted access heavy vehicles travelling southbound on Thunderbolts Way will be stopped at Rocky River Road during the closure.
Northbound oversize and over mass vehicles will be parked on the New England Highway (Bridge Street) between John and Park streets. Southbound vehicles will be parked between King and Hill streets. They will be released once the road reopens.
There will be increased pedestrian activity in both towns as people make their way to and from the events, and motorists are reminded to take care. Transport for NSW thanks motorists for their patience.
