Toyota Star Maker artist Jarrad Wrigley has released his second single, a deliberately over-the-top party song, as he builds towards an EP launch at the Longyard Hotel during the 2027 Tamworth Country Music Festival.
Wear The Hat follows his first Star Maker single, Borderline Crazy.
Mr Wrigley wrote the song with Adam Surace and Reece Mastin, who won The X Factor Australia in 2011.
“This is a fun party song for all the cowboys and cowgirls,” said Jarrad Wrigley.
“There are a few sayings you hear in the world of cowboys and cowgirls, but one in particular carries a certain old-school rule that most abide by: ‘You wear the hat, you ride the cowboy’.”
“Now, not everyone is expected to know that rule, and for those who don’t, my new single, Wear The Hat, will tell you just about all you need to know.”
Mr Surace produced and engineered the track and played all other instruments. Dave Ruberto played drums, Hamish Davidson was on fiddle, and Errin Kelly sang backing vocals.
Jacky McCormack mixed the track, and his uncle Jeff McCormack mastered it.
“Wear The Hat takes a playful swing at the larger-than-life cowboy characters and bawdy country-party songs we all know, turning up the swagger, double entendres and cheeky innuendo along the way,” Mr Wrigley said.
“It’s deliberately over the top, deliberately tongue-in-cheek, and definitely not meant to be taken too seriously.”
A music video for Wear The Hat is on the way.
Mr Wrigley will spend October on the road, including the Deni Ute Muster, Equimillion in Sydney, Groundwater in Broadbeach, the Warwick Rodeo, and the Coffs Coast CMF at Moonee Beach on 24 October.
In January, Mr Wrigley returns to Tamworth for the Tamworth Country Music Festival.
He will perform at the Opening Concert at Toyota Park at 7pm on Friday, 15 January, and as a guest at the Toyota Star Maker Grand Final at Toyota Park at 7pm on Sunday, 17 January.
His EP launch is at the Longyard Hotel at noon on Tuesday, 19 January, followed by Music For McGrath at Tamworth Town Hall at 7pm that night.
