Inverell, Glen Innes, and Narrabri are invited to celebrate a quarter-century of Centacare support next week, with free community parties in all three towns during the school holidays.
The first celebration will be at Campbell Park in Inverell on Monday, 28 September, from 11.30am to 2pm.
Glen Innes follows on Tuesday, 29 September, from 11am to 2pm at the Skate Park.
Narrabri wraps up the week on Wednesday, 30 September, from 12pm to 2pm at the Post Office Block.
All three events are free.
The celebrations will bring together community members, partner organisations, local leaders, current and former staff, and supporters to reflect on Centacare’s impact over the past 25 years.
“Our theme, ’25 Years of Walking Together’, reflects the way Centacare has supported people through life’s challenges and celebrations, standing alongside individuals and families every step of the way,” said Centacare CEO Chris Smedley.
“This milestone is about more than an organisation reaching 25 years.”
“It’s about recognising the thousands of people whose lives have intersected with Centacare, the dedicated staff who have served our community, and the many partners who have helped us create positive change.”
Since it was set up in 2001, Centacare has delivered a wide range of services and programs to support wellbeing, strengthen families, and build resilient communities.
Centacare NENW is the social services agency of the Catholic Diocese of Armidale. It provides services to the entire community, regardless of religion, circumstance, ethnicity, economic situation, age, gender, or ability.
Each celebration will feature free entertainment and a chance for locals to learn more about Centacare’s services and programs.
Local clubs will cook free sausage sizzles: the Inverell Lions Club in Inverell, the Glen Innes Lioness Club in Glen Innes, and the Narrabri Lions Club in Narrabri.
The HOPe van will serve free barista coffee at all three events, and there will be plenty of activities for children.
Centacare is encouraging people of all ages to come along.
“For 25 years, Centacare has walked alongside the community,” the organisation stated.
“This event is a chance to celebrate the journey so far and look forward to the road ahead.”
