Gwydir Shire Council has confirmed its leadership team for the coming year, with Cr Tiffany Galvin re-elected as Mayor and Cr Sean Coleman re-elected as Deputy Mayor at today’s Ordinary Council Meeting in Warialda.
Both positions were uncontested, reflecting the confidence of Councillors in the current leadership team.
Mayor Galvin said she was honoured to continue serving the community in the role.
“I’m absolutely honoured and deeply grateful for the support shown by my fellow Councillors.”
“It is a real privilege to continue serving as Mayor, and I’m excited about what we can achieve together over the coming years. “
“Gwydir is a wonderful place with passionate people, strong communities and enormous potential,” she said.
“I look forward to working alongside residents, businesses, community groups, fellow Councillors and Council staff to continue building a bright and positive future for our region.”
Deputy Mayor Coleman said he was looking forward to continuing the work underway across the Shire.
“Thank you to everyone who has supported me and placed their trust in me as Deputy Mayor.”
“We have a great Shire with strong communities and plenty of opportunities ahead,” he said.
“I look forward to continuing to work alongside Mayor Tiffany Galvin, my fellow Councillors, Council staff and our residents to help ensure Gwydir remains a great place to live, work and raise a family.
“There is plenty of work to do, and I’m looking forward to getting on with it.”
Council congratulated Cr Galvin and Cr Coleman on their re-election and looks forward to working together to deliver positive outcomes for communities across the Gwydir Shire.
There is only one mayoral race left in the region, for Walcha Council on September 30. So far the only council with a change in its leadership is Liverpool Plains.
