Tickets are now on sale for the official opening of CREATE Festival 2026, with the community invited to celebrate the launch of Narrabri Shire’s premier arts and cultural festival on Friday, 2 October.
Held at The Crossing Theatre, Opening Night marks the start of two weeks of creativity, culture and community connection, with CREATE Festival running through to 18 October.
Narrabri Mayor Darrell Tiemens said Opening Night was one of the highlights of the festival calendar.
“CREATE has become a much-loved event that brings our community together through art and creativity.”
“Opening Night is a chance to celebrate the artists who have contributed to this year’s exhibition, connect with fellow art lovers and experience the beginning of what promises to be another outstanding festival,” Mayor Tiemens said.
This year’s theme, Water, has inspired a diverse collection of artworks exploring the ways water shapes the region’s landscapes, communities, stories and environment.
Guests will be among the first to see the CREATE Festival Art Exhibition, featuring works from local and regional artists.
Director Corporate and Community Services Mark Watt said the event offered a chance to support the arts while enjoying a night out.
“CREATE is about fostering creativity, supporting artists and encouraging community participation in the arts.”
“Opening Night provides the perfect opportunity to meet the artists, view the exhibition and celebrate the cultural vibrancy of our region,” Mr Watt said.
The evening opens with the unveiling of a new public art sculpture, adding to Narrabri Shire’s growing public art collection. The unveiling starts at 6.30pm outside the Narrabri Region Visitor Information Centre and is free to attend.
Tickets for Opening Night are $55 per person, including a complimentary welcome drink and canapés, and can be purchased through The Crossing Theatre Box Office or online at www.createfestival.com.au.
Mayor Tiemens encouraged residents and visitors to secure their tickets early.
