Community groups across the Armidale region have received a $62,500 funding boost for projects ranging from festivals and youth programs to firefighting equipment and bush restoration.
Armidale Regional Council approved $50,000 for 24 projects through its 2026-27 Community Support and Small Grants program at its 26 August meeting, along with $12,500 for four projects under the Village Grants program.
Some of the largest grants include $4,000 for the Guyra VRA Rescue Squad to upgrade its vertical rescue capability and $3,800 for advertising for the New England Garden Festival.
The New England Bach Festival, Armidale Tree Group and Bulldog Blues will each receive $3,000 for projects including the 2027 Bach Festival, Beadle Grove bush restoration and The Big Day Trout 2026.
Other funding will support the Armidale Fermentation Festival, Guyra Lamb & Potato Festival, Armidale Youth Orchestra, youth touch football, under-18 open mic nights and community health and wellbeing programs.
Mayor Sam Coupland said the grants helped community organisations continue their work across the region.
“By regularly offering Community and Village Grants, Council is able to assist local groups to continue the great work they do,” said Coupland.
“This includes delivering projects and programs that benefit people and the region, and help build stronger, more connected communities.
“Grassroots organisations play a vital role enriching our region – and sometimes just a little financial support is all that’s needed to ensure a great project can get off the ground and make an impact!”
Four projects will also share $12,500 through the Village Grants program.
Dumaresq Rural Fire Brigade will receive $3,500 for firefighting equipment for dry conditions, while the New England Conservatorium of Music will receive $3,500 for New England Sings!
PCYC Armidale has also been awarded $3,500 for its EmpowerHer Juniors Village Outreach program, while Ben Lomond Recreation Reserve will receive $2,000 to enclose an all-weather picnic area.
Community and Village Grants are offered throughout the year, with application information available through Armidale Regional Council.
