Tamworth locals are being invited to dig out their leg warmers and shoulder pads for a free 80s-themed dance party designed to bring the whole community together, regardless of age or ability.
The All-Inclusive Dance Party will run from 6pm to 9pm on Friday, 11 September at The Chapel, 30 Anne Street, South Tamworth, with music, dancing, pizza and refreshments on offer in a safe and inclusive environment.
The free event is a collaboration between Uniting LAC, a Partner in the Community delivering the National Disability Insurance Scheme in NSW, and the Tamworth Networking Group. It aims to build stronger social connections for people with disability, their families and carers, as well as the broader community.
Yvette Humphrys, Project Officer with Uniting LAC’s Community Capacity Building team, said the night was about bringing people together.
“It fills your cup,” Ms Humphrys said.
“It’s all about inclusion for the community. It’s a night where everyone’s welcome to have fun and enjoy the evening together.”
Last year’s dance party drew 120 attendees, and organisers are hoping for an even bigger turnout this time around.
“It’s just the smiles,” Ms Humphrys said.
“Seeing people feeling comfortable just to have a good time is the best.”
The event is free, with RSVP required, and is open to people of all ages.
