More than 1,000 burgers were served to Tamworth Hospital staff during an annual appreciation lunch hosted by the Rapid Relief Team (RRT), recognising the contribution of local healthcare workers.
RRT volunteers held a barbecue at Tamworth Hospital, providing staff with a free meal and coffee to enjoy with colleagues during the event.
Local Team Leader Scott McDonald said the Thank You Lunch had become a well-established annual event for the hospital.
“The hard-working staff at Tamworth Hospital do so much to take care of the community, and this Thank You Lunch is all about showing our appreciation,” said McDonald.
“Our volunteers get a kick out of serving up a delicious free lunch along with a smile, as a way of saying, ‘we are so grateful for all you do’.
“It was a fantastic day for both RRT and staff at Tamworth Hospital – and we look forward to the next one!”
A total of 1,021 burgers and 266 coffees were served by volunteers during the lunch.
The event is one of a series of community initiatives undertaken by RRT to support frontline workers across regional Australia.
The Rapid Relief Team is the charitable arm of the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church. Established in 2013, the organisation provides meals, practical support and charitable assistance to emergency services, frontline workers and communities affected by disasters and other emergencies.
RRT says it now has more than 16,500 volunteers operating in Australia and internationally.
