Community Financial Assistance Grant Program opens in Narrabri

Narrabri Shire Council is inviting local community groups and organisations to apply for Round 1 of its 2026–27 Community Financial Assistance (CFA) Grant Program.

The annual program provides funding for projects, programs and events that contribute to a connected, unique and culturally rich community. It supports local organisations to deliver initiatives that strengthen social connections, promote community wellbeing and enhance the vibrancy of the Narrabri Shire.

Mayor Darrell Tiemens encouraged eligible organisations to apply.

“Our local community groups play an essential role in bringing people together and creating opportunities across the Shire,” Tiemens said.

“The Community Financial Assistance program is designed to support the incredible work these organisations do by helping turn great ideas into projects and events that benefit our communities.”

To support applicants, Council will host two free online application tutorials. The sessions will provide a step-by-step guide to completing the application form and give participants the opportunity to ask questions about their proposed projects.

Eligible organisations may apply for:

  • up to $500 for school P&C/P&F committees, preschools, education facilities and registered training organisations
  • up to $3,000 for eligible community organisations, with funding allocated on a pro rata basis according to participation.

Applications close on Tuesday, 4 August. Successful applicants are expected to receive funding in late October.

Applicants are encouraged to contact Council’s Grants Team for advice to help strengthen their applications.

“We want to ensure everyone has the opportunity to submit quality applications for Council to consider.” said Tiemens.

“We are fortunate to have a very skilled and experience Grants Team who are available to assist our community with this.”
