A rescue operation is continuing in the New England after a teenager was injured when a ute left a road and plunged down a steep embankment near Nundle this morning.
Emergency services were called to Barry Road at about 9.15am on Wednesday, 1 July, following reports of the single-vehicle crash.
A 17-year-old girl has been removed from the vehicle in a serious but stable condition and is being treated at the scene by paramedics.
A multi-agency response is under way, with resources from Fire and Rescue NSW, NSW Ambulance, the State Emergency Service, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service, and police from Oxley Police District working at the site.
Emergency services are working to remove the girl from the crash site, with the operation ongoing as of late morning.
Barry Road is closed in both directions near its intersection with Happy Valley Road. Tamworth Regional Council has confirmed staff will be attending the scene, and advised that road users can expect significant delays, with no timeframe given for when the road will reopen.
