A 35-year-old man has faced court charged with alleged drug and firearm offences in northern NSW.
Police from New England Police District began investigating the man on 31 May 2026 following reports of alleged firearm offences in Moree.
About 6pm on 3 June, officers from the Tactical Operations Unit, supported by a PolAir remotely piloted drone, New England Police District, the Western Region Operational Support Group, Western Region negotiators, the Dog Unit and the State Protection Support Unit, arrested the man at a Chester Street address in Moree after extensive inquiries.
Police executed a search warrant at the property and allegedly seized about 16 grams of methylamphetamine, with an estimated street value of $8000, an electronic device and cash.
The man was taken to Moree Police Station and charged with:
- Possessing an unauthorised firearm
- Possessing an unauthorised pistol
- Acquiring a firearm while subject to a prohibition order
- Possessing ammunition without a licence, permit or authority
- Acquiring ammunition while subject to a prohibition order
- Dealing with property suspected to be the proceeds of crime valued at less than $5000
- Supplying a prohibited drug in a quantity greater than indictable and less than commercial
- Breaching bail.
He was refused bail and appeared before Bail Division Court 5 on 4 June 2026, where bail was formally refused.
He is due to reappear before Moree Local Court on 15 June 2026.
