For Armidale business owner Andrew Cureton – known to many as Andy – quality workmanship and authenticity go hand in hand.
Through his businesses Phoenix Painting & Property Maintenance and Neuro.D, Andy has built a reputation not only for professional results, but for creating work that genuinely connects with people.
Based in Armidale, Phoenix Painting & Property Maintenance specialises in residential and commercial repainting, including interior and exterior painting, timber restoration, gloss trim work and general property maintenance services across the New England region.
“Phoenix Painting & Property Maintenance is focused on high-quality residential and commercial repainting,” Andy said.
“I specialise in interior and exterior painting, timber restoration and property maintenance, with a strong focus on preparation, detail and long-lasting finishes.”
What started as a trade quickly became something more personal.
“Phoenix Painting & Property Maintenance is built around quality over shortcuts, strong customer relationships and a reputation for reliability and attention to detail,” Andy said.
“Through consistent workmanship and customer service, the business has grown into one of the region’s highest-rated painting businesses on Google in Armidale.”
Andy said preparation is one of the most important parts of any painting project and something he refuses to rush.
“A great paint job is built long before the paint goes on,” he said.
“I take the time to properly prepare surfaces to ensure durability and a premium result.”
Alongside larger residential and commercial jobs, Andy also offers general property maintenance and handyman services, something he believes is often overlooked by larger operators.
“I also believe no job is too small,” he said.
“Often, small touch-ups or odd jobs are turned away because they are not considered worth the time. I see things differently. If I can help someone out, I will.”
“In many cases, a positive Google review and a happy client are just as valuable to me as the payment itself, because reputation and trust are what truly build a local business.”
That same people-first mindset also helped inspire Neuro.D, Andy’s Australian neurodivergent movement and clothing brand focused on ADHD, autism and embracing different ways of thinking.

Living with ADHD and autism himself, Andy created Neuro.D from lived experience after years of navigating high-pressure industries while feeling the pressure many neurodivergent people experience to “mask” who they are.
“My ADHD affects my short-term working memory and executive functioning, which can make everyday work tasks more difficult,” Andy said.
“Through Neuro.D, I hope to make a meaningful impact on the world. I want people like me to feel seen, heard and validated.”
The movement combines bold designs, humour and honest messaging to create conversations around neurodivergent identity and self-acceptance, while encouraging workplaces and communities to better support neurodivergent people.
“I want to inspire companies and organisations to not only value but actively support their neurodivergent employees,” he said.
Whether he is restoring a family home or building awareness around neurodiversity, Andy said both businesses are ultimately built on the same foundation – authenticity, care and pride in helping people feel better about themselves and the spaces around them.
“Every project is approached with the same care, communication and attention to detail I’d expect in my own home,” he said.

Whether you are a traditional tradie, like a mechanic, builder, plumber, or electrician, a trade that doesn’t always come immediately to mind like hairdresser, counsellor, or graphic designer, a service business like a cleaner, book keeper, or personal trainer, or perhaps a professional service, like accountant, lawyer, or consultant, we want to highlight your great work.
