Another life lost in Warialda crash

A second fatal crash near Warialda in less than 24 hours, and the second fatal motorcycle crash in the New England region this week, has claimed the life of a woman on Friday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to Warialda Road at Warialda about 4.50pm on Friday, following reports a motorcycle had left the road and crashed.

Officers attached to New England Police District attended and found the rider, a woman believed to be in her 40s, had died at the scene.

She is yet to be formally identified.

Police established a crime scene and commenced investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash, with a report to be prepared for the Coroner.

The death follows another fatal crash reported near Warialda less than 18 hours earlier.

About 11.25pm on Thursday, emergency services were called to Elcombe Road at Bangheet, approximately 60 kilometres south-west of Warialda, after reports a vehicle had left the road and rolled.

Police located the driver, a man believed to be in his 70s, deceased at the scene.

That incident is also under investigation, with a report being prepared for the Coroner.

Friday’s crash also marks the second fatal motorcycle accident in the New England region this week.

On Monday, a 70-year-old man died after his motorcycle left the road and crashed on Thunderbolts Way near Uralla.

Bystanders commenced first aid before NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived, however the rider died at the scene.

Police are continuing inquiries into all three fatal crashes.
