Three charged over alleged aggravated break-ins in Armidale

Double demerit points will apply for the holiday season

A man and two teenage boys have been charged following a series of alleged aggravated break-ins in the New England region.

New England Police District officers attended a property on Earle Page Drive, Armidale, about 3pm on Wednesday, 20 May, where an 18-year-old man was allegedly found and arrested in a garage.

Two boys, aged 14 and 15, allegedly attempted to run from officers before they were arrested in the backyard. Police allege both teenagers were carrying gloves, while the older boy was also allegedly in possession of a balaclava.

Investigators will allege the trio was involved in separate aggravated break-and-enter offences across the Armidale area in recent months.

All three were taken to Armidale Police Station.

The 18-year-old was charged under two outstanding warrants with:

  • nine counts of fail to appear in accordance with bail acknowledgment,
  • six counts of aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company steal less than or equal to $60,000,
  • five counts of aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence — people there,
  • five counts of be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner,
  • four counts of breach of bail,
  • two counts of attempted aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company steal less than or equal to $60,000,
  • two counts of take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, and
  • one count of drive conveyance taken without consent of owner.

He appeared before a children’s court on Thursday, 21 May 2026, where he was formally refused bail to reappear before the same court on Thursday, 4 June 2026.

The 14-year-old boy was charged with:

  • three counts of be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner,
  • aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence — people there,
  • aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company intend steal less than or equal to $60,000, and
  • enter enclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse.

He was granted conditional bail to appear before a children’s court on Monday, 22 June 2026.

The 15-year-old boy was charged with possess housebreaking implements and breach of bail.

He appeared before a children’s court on Thursday, 21 May, where he was granted conditional bail to reappear before the court on Thursday, 4 June.
