A man has been charged following an alleged attempted robbery in the state’s north over the weekend.
Police from New England Police District were told an attempted robbery occurred at a park on Alice Street, Moree, about 3pm on Saturday 16 May.
Police were told two men, one in his 60s and the other in his 30s, were sitting on a park bench when another man allegedly threatened the older man with a knife and demanded money.
The two men reportedly fled, allegedly being followed by the man, before leaving in a vehicle and driving to Moree Police Station.
Following inquiries, and with the assistance of a PolAir remotely piloted drone, police attended a licensed premises on Amaroo Drive, Moree, about 3.10pm on Sunday 17 May, where they arrested a 30-year-old man.
He was taken to Moree Police Station and charged with being armed with intent to commit an indictable offence and demanding property with menaces with intent to steal.
The man was refused bail and appeared before Bail Division Court 4 on Monday, 18 May, where he was formally refused bail to appear before Moree Local Court on Monday, 25 May.
