Changed traffic conditions on New England Highway north of Armidale

Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on the New England Highway north of Armidale while maintenance work is carried out.

Transport for NSW is carrying out work between Glen Innes Road and Link Road, about seven kilometres north of Armidale, to implement a range of safety improvements.

The work includes removing existing concrete islands and kerbing at the nearby heavy vehicle inspection bay, drainage work, surface improvements to the highway and inspection bay, installation of guardrail, line-marking changes and signage upgrades.

Work will be carried out from 7am to 6pm, Monday to Saturday, until early June, weather permitting.

Single-lane, alternating traffic arrangements will be in place and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h will apply for the duration of the work to ensure the safety of workers and motorists.

The heavy vehicle inspection bay will remain closed until work is completed.

Motorists are advised to drive to conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic controllers.
